Crossfit Open; re-assessing this thing again

So, a few days ago; I wrote in my long winded blog not doing the Crossfit Open 2015.  Well, there was a small blurb about it at the end of the blog.  The rest of it was a recap of what I've been doing for the last 4 months.

Some gear which I'm expecting to see in Crossfit Open 2015

Then, our box; Rock Jungle posted something regarding how they plan to do the Open.

And then my gym buddy changed her mind and decided to sign up (mainly because of the way Rock Jungle) plan to support their participants during the Crossfit Open.

Here's a link to Rock Jungle's approach (something that they had borrowed from Catalyst Fitness):

It's making me rethink everything about signing up..

Here's my dilemma..

The NAY part:

I had a few concerns begininng; based on my last years attempt.  Found many weakness which I'm still working on improving.  There's a lot of improvement needed and many areas where I haven't made progress (Double Unders, Strict Pull-Ups, to name a few).

One of the most challenging things for me, is the fear of injuring myself.  We all don't plan to injure ourselves when we enter a competition.  It's not our nature; but it does occur.    One of the things I did last year that caught me off guard was the attempts to do "Toes to Bar".  I couldn't do it if Zombies were chasing me or a bear was below.  I was easy prey.     I tried my best and then some.   Of course, it's that "and then some..." that probably pushed me over.   My shoulder eventually seized up and I was in Physio for a week.    I caught it early enough, as I had advise my Physiotherapist that I may be coming in.  I was already in for a ankle tendonitis and it was 95% heal.

I know, what the hell was I thinking..

The YAY Part:

The positive support that I'm receiving from people who I've asked.  Including some friends who don't do Crossfit.  (Yah, I ask a lot of people for opinions when I'm stumped).

I've been pondering to myself, what is it that I'm training for?   How do I really test myself against my peers?  Not only those in my gym, but people in our region, let alone people around the world.

I guess if I want to answer that question; is to give it a try.

Because it's scaled, one shouldn't be injured.   Probably be better in the long run and keep Crossfit in general as positive for people who are new to it, and for people who are in the Intermediate stage.

I'll need to reach out to some of our coaches and have some Q&A.   After that, I'll make some decisions...  and you may or may not see me signed up.
