Training goals and changes for 2017

After taking some time off from the Crossfit scene, specifically after getting back from my vacation in Dubai.

The month of January 2017 was a write-off.  I needed to focus on some more immediate things with the family and as well as my job.

Being away for four week from the office is a double edge sword.    I needed that time off due to all the personal issues from last year.  At the same time, I knew coming back to work would be hectic for weeks afterwards in trying to catch up.

I ended up using that off time for my work.  Of course, I would later pay for it when I had to return to crossfit.  The entire process of getting my endurance/strength back is always so hard on the body.

And I always find myself cursing to myself, "why did I take so much time off... why....!??!"

The month off gave me some time to reflect on what changes I need to do for the immediate future, short term and long term goals.  Honestly, I had some of these ideas bouncing around in my little brain for the last four months; but just really had time to sit down and think it thru.  Yes, I'm one of those guys:  a planner, need structure, logical in some ways.   This is probably why some of the Olympic movements are always harder as I'm too busy "thinking" in my head.

Short term goals:
Get proper nutrition advice with regards to macros, micros and as well as an eating plan that fits my training

Train my body, working on areas that I'm had identified as weak.

Deal with my nagging 'chronic' injuries, working a plan to strengthen those areas.

Long term goals:
To be strong, to be efficient in my movements, and challenge myself to be better than I was.
To enter some local crossfit competitions

Whats the plan?

I plan to hire one of the coaches here at the Armoury.  I will meet with one of the coaches to develop a training plan, and as well as schedule some One on One training for certain movements that needs to be worked on.  And seek out some nutritional advice.

Kickstarter Program with the wife:
With all the above goals and planning thought out, I was about to pull the pin to activate my changes.

My wife advises me that she would like to give Crossfit a try.   She would like to do the Kickstarter program.

I had to pause for a second and then internally I was jumping for joy!  Finally, after two and half years of asking her to try, she finally decided to give it a try!!!   I'm all smiles!  :)     BUT, there was a catch....

She said in order for her to take the class, she would only do it if I would take the class with her.

It's doable... I will just take my initial plans above and delay it by a month.  I will still talk to the coach I was planning to hire and have my initial assessment.    I think this will work out for the better in the long run.

I'll use this as a "Refresher" for certain movements, and as a way to see how the Armoury Kickstarter program works.   I've seen what it has done for all the graduates of this FOUR week, 3 classes a week program.   At the same time, it will allow me to ease back into classes.

My wife, being the funny one said that she plans to embarrass me in class.   I think it was a test to see if I would back down from signing her up.

I signed her up that evening for the class and as well as myself.    This will be great, working out/training together.

Kickstarter program - 3 classes for 4 weeks

We start the program; Monday, February 6th.    It will be running on Monday, Thursday and Saturday for four weeks.    I do hope to do some regular classes during this time.
