Interesting read and update
So, my wife being the wonderful and supportive woman that she is, decided to boost my spirits when she was out yesterday. She saw a book and thought, "That has Tony written all over it! And it's calling me to buy it!" She was so excited, she called me on the cell to tell me that she has a surprise for me.
The book:
Inside The Box: How CrossFit? Shredded the Rules, Stripped Down the Gym, and Rebuilt My Body
Book my wife bought to brighten my spirits |
I'll admit, once she tossed me the book; I haven't been able to put it down. The inside covers of the book has some pictures of daily WOD; and it reminded me so much of what you would see on the whiteboards at RJF (Rock Jungle Fitness). I'll update and maybe do a mini review of the book in a future blog.
As an update of my injuries:
Physiotherapy is going well, although I wish my body would heal faster. And if it does, I won't be able to return to 100% capacity. It'll be a slow process. I'll be talking to the coaches about possibly modify the workouts, or what options I have.
What happen?
I have micro tears in the muscle that attaches to the bottom of my heal. So, when I attempt to walk, let alone stand; it's hurts like hell. Thus, the crutches, pain killers and sometimes muscle relaxants. What causes this? A lot of repetitive motion, overuse of that muscle and not doing enough stretching. Thus, my previous posting about stretching.
As my physiotherapist tells me, it'll take 4 to 6 weeks to heal. They are using everything from ultrasounds, IMS (think, similar to acupuncture), ice and the use of electricity (IFC), and other wonderful recovery techniques.
I missed the workouts, I missed the people and I really need to stay positive about returning.
I guess I'll be taking this day by day. Happy WOD'ing everyone..
