Crossfit Armoury - Week 6: Mobility + Olympic Lifting + Yoga (Mobility)

Crossfit Armoury

Back to the grind I say, after taking a week off due to vacation.   An vacation to Mexico at an All Inclusive hotel.  Which mean, it impacts one ability....

Monday started with a mobility class at 7 PM (only 12 hours earlier, I was in my first Crossfit class since returning from vacation).   Yah, I like doing it this way on Monday.  Not only do you do a class, but also a mobility session.

Wednesday; I decided to follow up on my promise to myself and do an Olympic lifting class.  Because the previous crossfit class was running late (the WOD was long); our class started late.  And with that, we ended up skipping a small portion of the class.  I did mention to Coach AJ that perhaps it would be better to move that Olympic class from 60 minutes to 75 minutes.   It's a personally suggestion, as I remember when I had trained at  Farmstrong; the training classes were 75 minutes.   Let's see how the future classes go and go from there.

Saturday; decided to a mobility class and we had a special guest; Christina Mohr who was doing a Yin Yoga class.   This was wonderful to attend, as it reminded me that I really need to get back into a routine with yoga.   How I missed it so much.   Just not enough time to fit it in with with work, life and rest.
I do have a membership at Yogalife Studios - North Edmonton; but will be cancelling it in the new year.  I haven't used it enough to warrant the monthly cost in the last 3 months.  No one's fault other than mine.  But I do have some fitness goals that tend to outweigh the yoga class.  And yes, flexibility is still a key part of any workout.   As learned in my competition training, there is a use of ROMWOD to help with.  I will evaluate this as an alternative option.   The other option is to find a yoga studio that is closer to my training facility or my home.  I will stick to drop-ins in the near future as that fits my schedule much better.

Mobility classes  this week will focus on the following, as quoted by Aaron Noris [Physiotherapist at Optimize Physio]:

Monday - HSPU's
Wednesday - Front Rack
Saturday - *SPECIAL GUEST* Yoga session with the lovely Christina Mohr!!!

Olympic classes this week, as quoted by Coach AJ Facendi:

Wednesday- 1st Pull (off the ground) work with a fun EMOM for both Snatches and Cleans. And some jerks from the rack.
Sunday- Power Snatch + OH Sq complex and a Power Clean + Push Jerk complex.
Plus we'll keep working at that ankle stretch (in a squat with bar on our knees) and a new partner shoulder/chest stretch to help our overhead position.
