Day 335: Crossfit Armoury: Testing Crossfit 16.5

Open Workout - Week 5 (16.5)

How much I loathe this workout when Dave Castro made the announcement that the Crossfit Open 16.5 is a repeat of 14.5.   The thought sent shivers down my spine.  I remembered how much I hated 14.5 and the fact, that I never like my time that I did it in.  It was 36 minutes and 26 seconds.   And it was horrible, there were so many times that I had wanted to quit and many times I was in a fetal position but on my knees.  Oh, the memories, they were not kind.

Crossfit Open 2014 was all Rx'd.  There was no scaling like we have it now.  Even though it was my first Crossfit Open, I had at many times during the workout ponder my future in crossfit.  Wondering, What the Hell am I doing this for.

Some of my biggest fear that entered mind were:

 a)  I was made aware by the previous 4 Crossfit Open Workouts that my cardio is
lacking and in a need of fixing.
 b)  I would do worst than I did in 2014, a time that I'm not proud of
 c)  I would have to re-live all those memories of suffering when I did 14.5 and all the
negative thoughts that would flood my mind
 d)  I was not in a good mental nor physical place (doubt)

My Crossfit Open 16.5 score - Rx'd

So, as you can see; I managed to shave 1 minute and 27 seconds of my previous time (2 years prior).   The only different is that I didn't take as long of a rest breaks as I did before.
Based on the last 4 Open Crossfit workouts, it was already determined that Chippers are my weakness.  Since most of this year Crossfit Open workouts was about the "cardio" engine, it really showed me what I was still weak at.   I'll have to change my plans and focus more on rebuilding a new cardio engine.

MISC:

Two weeks in a row, and the only time I've been to the box is doing these Crossfit Open Workouts, namely to do the testing.   This week personal crisis is a combination of work and family issues.  When it rains, it fucking pours.   And to top it off, I'll be gone all next week to deal with the family matters.

The city I'm travelling to has two crossfit boxes, both of which I would love to try them out.   Although, this trip will taking up 125% of time; I wont' even bother taking my gear.
I will take some comfort that afterwards, I will be making it my personal priority to return to the box.

There are a few things that are in the works that I wlll share with everyone shortly.   Most likely it will be in the my Reflections of the Crossfit Open 2016 entry.  Stay tune, that will come out shortly.
