Crossfit Armoury - August 27, 2017: Speciality class: Olympic Lifting
My Post-It Note with my pre-calculated numbers for the exercise |
Sunday; August 27, 2017 @ Crossfit Armouy - West |
Coach: Meaghan
My thoughts:
I feel like I've been at the box every day this week, either it is class, olympic lifting, mobility or seeing the physio.
Megan informed us that this is her last day coaching olympic lifting as our head olympic coach is back next week. It's been a slice Meaghan!! I'll be seeing her during our regular crossfit classes. I've notice the over the last week, she's been going to the 6 am classes.
Snatch:
Snatch work called for 85% of our 1 RM; which turns out to be 125 lb for me. Of course, I didn't read that correctly and it actually says 85% of our Power Snatch which is not 125 lb. I actually dropped the weight down to 115 lb. Surprisingly, how much 10 lbs can make a difference. The exercise was a 10 minute EMOM, power snatch.
Clean & Jerk:
The real reason why you don't see too many videos of me doing my lift. My shirts are either not long enough, or they eventually pull up when I'm executing any lift above my head. I definitely not fit like a lot of the guys in my box. Can't help being self conscious. Was weighing if I should post or not. Well, now I know why all the lifters wear those onesies...
<video of my 90% Clean and Jerk>
The lift feels a bit easier the last week at the higher percentage (90%+). Maybe it's technique, maybe it's a bit of strength; or maybe it's both. I'm actually able to finish my lifts within the hour and not spending too many minutes after the class.
Now, I really need to work on the power stage; where I feel the bar on my thighs. The video doesn't do justice as it starts at the critical point (where I can't really tell if am doing it correctly).
Accessory/Homework:
NONE; I'll start focusing on Extra credit on my off day (when I'm not doing Crossfit or Olympic lifting).
