Crossfit Armoury - September 12, 2017 - Speciality Class: Olympic lifting

Tuesday; September 12, 2017 @ Crossfit Armoury - South

Coach:  AJ Facendi

My Thought:
Slight change in location for my olympic lifting this week.  Actually decided to try our sister location; on the south side.  It actually takes me an additional 20 minutes to get to from my normal west side location.  But olympic lifting is only offered Monday, Wednesday on the west and Tuesday, Thursday on the south side.

It's still the same programming by the same coach, just a different location.  Our membership allows us to use either location.   A very convent thing to have, especially when one's schedule doesn't work.

Another big plus, is to meet the crew at the south location. After all, Crossfit Armoury is a big community!

Met a few new faces such as Fernanda M. and as well as a few familiar faces who normally trains at the West location.   It's good!

Something new that Coach AJ had us do during our warm ups.  We are to take a 5 lb plate and squat with 1 arm press (thumb back and the plate close to our ear when we press).  That actually made it a bit more challenging then wildy single arm pressing the plate while in the squat position.   The rest of the warm-up is the same as it has been.

Snatch:
Worked on some Drop snatches, 3x3; increasing weight each set.
Exercise:  Coach gave us the option to use a rack or one could opt out of the use of the rack and go straight to OHS for 2 reps instead of 3.    I opted to skip the rack as the weight I was using was comfortable.  I ended up using 110 lb as the ratio worked out to be 108.75 lb.  We were to do each round within 90 seconds, while any time remaining; we would use it for rest.

Clean & Jerk:
The goal of this exercise it to help us focus on keeping our butt down during the first pull.  Turns out the 3 of us guys that were working on this, had the same issues as Coach walked by.   There is a lot of queues to take in when doing this movement.   A lot of practice is what I really need.  This was definitely a good exercise to work on.
