Crossfit Armoury - July 12, 2017: Speciality class: Olympic Lifting; New Olympic Lifting shoes

Reebok Legacy Lifters; late birthday present for myself

Comparison to my old lifters, which now will solely be used for Crossfit.
Top (Reebok Legacy Lifters); bottom (Reebok Lifters Plus 2.0)

Heel height difference (left: 0.75", right: 0.86")
It looks a lot more than that for the difference.  Time to test it out.

Thoughts:
Since I've personally made a decision to focus on my olympic lifting, I did two things that would help me follow this decision.  1)  I had signed up for every single olympic LIFTING class until the end month  2)  I went and bought dedicated olympic lifting shoes.

I had many options and did a whole whack of research, including tons of YouTube videos.  I personally been following these legacy lifter since they were announced late last year.   I was going to buy these, but after some discussion with the wife.  Decided to wait until I was full emerse with Olympic lifting before committing.  Do I have any regrets getting these shoes.   Not so far, mind you I've just got them on Monday and tonight will be my first day with them.  I'll give myself a few weeks of wearing them to break them in and will report back here.

In case you haven't realize, I need structure.  It helps with my thinking, commitment, and of course planning.

Snatch:
We had a Squat Snatch ladder starting at 70% of 1 RM, increasing 5 % each minute until we hit 85% of our 1 RM.  The first two round, required two reps, and the last two rounds were 1 rep.  This was repeat again back to the 70% with 2 reps each.   Started my weight at 95 lb and ended with 115 lb.

Clean & Jerk:
Exercise called for 1 power clean + 1 squat clean + 1 split jerk.  Starting with 60% of 1 RM (125 lb) and the 70% (145 lb) for 2 sets of the complex.  Both the 75% (155 lb) and 80% (165 lb) were 3 sets of the complex.  If we can hit the 85% (175 lb); we were to do 1 set.   While it took me a while, where most of the class had finished I was still working on my last rep at the 80% mark.  I didn't mind staying later and as I found out from my coach; it's better than I take the rest needed and lift while maintaining the proper form.

Extra Credit / Assigned Home work:
Again, too tired to do my previous accessory work/home work.  I was also assigned another movement to work on.  It was noted that I was having issues at the bottom of the catch during the drop of my snatch.
