Crossfit Armoury - July 26, 2017: Speciality class: Olympic Lifting
Wednesday; July 26, @ Crossfit Armoury - West |
Coach: AJ Facendi
Thoughts:
It's been a crazy week, day four of classes including olympic lifting. If I had to do this again, I would definitely take Monday off. I really felt it during my lifts this week in classes. My body does NOT like consecutive days of training. I'm beginning to hate being 49.
Snatch:
Being slowly adding weight to the Sotts Press. Even if it's 10 lb, bringing the weight to 55 lb. It's progress. I tried to goto 65 lb, but failed on the sotts press, still weak.
Today, we focus on doing the Touch and Go (TnGo) Snatch plus Overhead Squat. The following the percentage and weight used for this exercise. Sets and Reps used according to the exercise. My percentage 50% (70 lb), 60% (80 lb), 70% (95 lb), 75% (100 lb), 80% (110 lb), 85% (115 lb), 90% (120 lb), 96% (130 lb)
Clean & Jerk:
Front squat press, something a bit new. I'm pretty stable in the front squat press. So, it hard to maintain that position, and I even added 10 lbs to the barbell.
So, this was different. Coach demoed it for us that we were to do half squat cleans (pausing for one second at the half squat position [think power squat], and then finish with the squat clean [doing this twice], then moving to a Push Jerk and follow with a split jerk.
I kinda surprised myself and was able to hit 165 lb before my body gave out. I was still able to do half squat at this weight. As for the next weight of 175 lb, I couldn't hold the half squat clean, and had to do complete squat clean.
Extra Credit / Homework:
My clean and jerk took me pass the 60 minutes for class, and I opted to wrap up instead of doing any extra credit. It's been a long week.
