Crossfit Armoury - October 10, 2017: Olympic Lifting

Tuesday; October 10, 2017 @ Crossfit Armoury - South

Coach:  AJ Facendi

Thoughts:
Coming back from a few days off due to it being the long weekend, Thanksgiving yesterday (Canada, we celebrate it at the correct time - :p  )

Anyways, it was nice to come back to some olympic lifting.  Although, when I calculated out the numbers based on my new PR weight.   Everything got a bit more serious.    I had to wrap my head around the weight that I would be doing the drop snatches.   Especially at the 80% mark.  I'm probably more comfortable around the 70% weight.   But as Coach said, it's designed to be hard, challenging.    And Challenging it was..

OLYMPIC LIFTING (OLY):   OCT 10, 2017

SNATCHES: [160]
===============

Every 2-3 minutes:
 3 Snatches + 3 Drop Snatches

  60% = 95
  70% = 110
  75% = 120
  80% = 130

  85% 135
  ***OPTIONAL

CLEAN & JERK [215]
===================

1 Clean + 2 Front Squat + 1 Jerk

6 Sets to find a max/heavy
*must complete 6 sets

ie:   105
125
135
145
155
165

Snatches:
The Snatches are okay at a higher weight; however, the drop snatches were not.  Maybe it's a mental thing, or it's the fact is a weight I never been comfortable with (new to my body).  Weird, but I'll have to mentally view it as the exercise I need to do.  To get comfortable with that weight above my head.
Building confidence, building a stronger arms, upper body for when these weights get heavier.

Well, I did managed to get to the 80% mark, but it took a long time.  Ran a few minutes into my Clean and Jerk portion of the class, but I did failed on the last 2 reps of the Drop Snatch.

Cleans:
This portion was pretty straight forward.  I kept the weight a bit on the lighter side.  Again, something the coach mentioned.  It's about focusing on the movement, the technique.  Like always, there are tips/tidbits that are on the board.  She reinforces all these when we lift.    Those little cues makes all the difference.  I'm still correcting my form and techniques.  Practicing with lighter to medium weight is a good way to achieving that.
Coach also wanted us to complete 6 sets with increasing weight, until we find a heavy/max.   If we fail, we must go back and redo that set again.
