Crossfit Armoury - April 16 and 18, 2018: Olympic Lifting - Max weight test, Snatch PR

Max Weight Testing - Snatch PR

April 16 to 19, 2018:  MAX Weight lift.   No programming!

As explained by our Head Olympic lifting coach, AJ Facendi "It’s max testing week in Olympic Weightlifting 🏋🏼‍♀️ 💪🏻🏋🏽‍♂️. As always you don’t have to max out and can work on technique. You can also test you back/front/overhead squat, drop snatch, jerk from the rack etc."

Thoughts:

April 16, 2018:
Max weight lifting this week.  However after doing the WOD prior to this class.  I've opted not to attempt to go for a max lift.  I'll work on technique.   I gave it a try and it was a struggle to do 125 lb snatch.  It's a good sign for me when I can barely hit 78% of 1 rm.   If I can get 145 lb snatch; then I'm more inclined to give it a go for max weight lift.
Even my clean and jerk was sloppy at 135 lb.  Cleaning the weight wasn't the issue, but the jerk portion was not as stable as I would had liked.  Managed to hit 185 lb, but that was it.  Again, not feeling it.
The max weight lift will have to wait until Wednesday.  And I will definitely take Tuesday off for rest/recovery day.  On Wednesday, I'll skip the crossfit class prior and use that time to roll out, stretch and prepare for max weight lift!

April 18, 2018:
Max weight lift this week; came in with the intention of hitting a new PR.   I wasn't sure if I was or not.  I usually gauge it on how I feel and if I can hit my 90% on a lift; then I will try.

When I hit my 95% this evening, and it felt pretty good.  I decided to go for it!
While it's not a huge PR, but it was 2 lb.  162 lb (73.6 kg) snatch.

Here's a link to a video that my coach took of me hitting my PR:

I'll admit; I haven't been training consistently with Olympic lifting.  I've been doing more crossfit, gymnastic and now picked up more cardio.  Not quite the recipe for stronger lifts.
