Thoughts:
What a humbling experience that this 18.2 was for me.   Here I thought the weight of the dumbbells wouldn't be my achilles heel.  I was more worried about the bar facing burpee.   Yes, I know it's 50 lb each arm.   I even had the weight for my 1 rep max clean setup.  It was 137 lb (someone prior had decided to use the fraction plates) just to get a head on the others.   I thought it was a good idea and left it at that.

However, I never even made it to do my 1 REP max clean stage.  I never finish 18.2 and only got 78 reps in the 12 minute time cap.  My stumbling block was actually the dumbbell squats.  It started to hit me around the 6 rep round where my legs were starting to feel like jello and my chest was being crushed (felt like someone was stepping on it).  I couldn't get enough air in my system; essentially my cardio sucked.  This would be where the lack of doing Crossfit classes had caught up to me.

Since my legs started to feel like jello, it felt more like heavy mudded feet by the 7th rep stage, especially after the DB Squats.  However, I got my second wind when I had actually ventured too close to the barbell during my bar facing burpees, and practically doing a faceplant.   I promptly got back up and continued, while I thought I just smoked my shin.  I didn't bother checking myself over as time was running out.   Finish that set of bar facing burpees and started my next 8th rep stage.

I was seriously hurting as I found that my db squats were taxing every part of my body.  I really just wanted to give up at this stage.  And my shin was hurting, figured I would mentally block it out or try to use that pain as motivation to finish.  I broke the DB Squats into smaller sets and actually had to drop them down a few times.  Who would had thought 8 reps of DB squats would be so fucking taxing.   The bar facing burpees were no different, although I was more aware of where the bar was doing this movement.  I don't think the new standard had anything to do with my trip, just plain carelessness (putz move) on my part or the tiring of my legs.

My 9th rep of DB Squats would be where the bulk of my time would be burnt up.  Felt like I dropped the dumbbells here every 2 reps.   Even with all the cheering from people who were watching, I had nothing left in my tank.  Time was called after I finished my 6th rep of DB Squat.

So disappointed in myself; figured that the strength component in the past training would help me thru this.  Again, cardio whacked me across the back of my head.  Serves me right for not doing more crossfit classes.

I checked my shin afterwards and realized I'm missing some skin and was bleeding (sorry, no pictures).  I didn't really have much time to deal with it as I was scheduled to judge someone.  As part of our Intramural style Armoury Open challenge, the team that judges the most people win the most point.  Go team Expendables!!

After that, I went to the first aid station to get some cleaning solution, gauze and a bandage.   Fuck Burpees, I hate you!!!
