Crossfit Armoury - March 23, 2018: My Open 18.5...

My attempt to do my first ever chest to bar pull-up. This was probably my 5th attempt, and I tried a few different grips to no avail. |
My Crossfit Open 18.5 Score - Rx'd

Thoughts:
Well, I tried and failed. Honestly, it wasn't about points. If it was, I would had done everything as Rx'd. I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could get my first Chest to Bar Pull-up. Came close on my first and second attempt; but every attempt after that became that much harder. My strength started to falter, even with rest in between attempts.
Technique was missing, even though a few people came over and gave me pointers. Hindsight: I should had attended some gymnastic class prior to the open. Then again, it's always hindsight that smack you across the back of the head, after the fact.
Sadly, I always default to brute strength to do certain things. Had I even thought of kicking up on my first and second attempt; I may had gotten one Chest to Bar Pull-up.
As for the thruster, it's thruster. It's 100 lb, and was initially a bit unsettling for me. Only because I was probably overthinking it, like I always do when it comes to these thing. Partially, I was glad I intentionally pick the station close to the back where there were less people to watch me. Doubt with distraction always catches up with me in one form or another.
Lesson learned; do more gymnastic class to enable oneself to do these movements. Hmm, there is an gymnastic class on Sunday....
A bunch of us got together and head out to a local pub to grab some food and drinks. Here's a few pictures about the excitement for completing the Open for 2018. Sorry, I missed the other end of the table.
